How many hours a day should you wear aligners?

Most dentists ask patients to wear clear aligners for about 20 to 22 hours a day. Teeth move under steady pressure; long breaks let them drift back.

When to take them out

  • To eat
  • To drink anything other than plain water
  • To brush and floss

Tips

  • Keep meals and snacks to set times.
  • Always store aligners in their case, never in a napkin.
  • Brush before putting them back in.
  • Use the wear tracker in the Alignova patient app.

Fasting and long events

During Ramadan or long weddings, plan your meals so total wear time stays high, and ask your dentist for advice.
