What is AI aligner monitoring?

AI aligner monitoring is the use of image analysis to help dentists review a patient's progress during clear aligner treatment, using photos taken at home.

Remote monitoring first

Remote aligner monitoring means the patient takes photos of their teeth between visits and the dentist reviews them. With the Alignova patient app, patients send three photos in fixed poses at every aligner change and log daily wear.

What AI adds

AI can compare photos across the series, detect teeth and aligner edges, and flag possible problems, such as an aligner not seating fully, so the dentist knows which cases to look at first.

How does AI track tooth movement?

By comparing consistent photos over time with the stage the patient should be at. Consistency is everything: the same poses, lighting and distance make changes visible.

What AI does not do

AI does not diagnose or change treatment. The dentist makes every clinical decision.
